Art exhibition «Forget Me Not» – Tröckneturm, St. Gallen
The historic Tröckneturm in St. Gallen was revived by Stéphanie Baechler as part of the “Forget Me Not” art installation.
The tower, a relic from the heyday of Switzerland’s textile industry, was decorated with 25 fabric panels made of textile laser-cut and iridescent foil. The installation is illuminated by white light in the evening, which later changes to a dimmed red to evoke the traditional “Turkish red”.
This fabric-based composition is a tribute to the importance of materials in a digitalised world and forms part of Stéphanie Baechler’s extensive artistic work, which deals with archive material and stories fading from memory. A book documenting the work has been published to accompany the exhibition.
